`
"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

January 2012 Cows for Sale - SOLD!

The cows listed below are all sold, but feel free to look at their pretty pictures :).   We will have more cows for sale in 2012 starting in November.  We sell the cows that do not get pregnant between March and May, so don't fret, more to come!

Well, we started advertising a little late this year, but we do have cows for sale!  We have the individual prices for each of the cows below.   We need to move the cows pretty fast, and at this point we are operating off of a first come first serve basis.

This year was a little more challenging than last year.  We calved in one of the wettest springs our area has seen in over 10 years.  Since we calve outside, the cows had a harder time transitioning through the cold and the wet.  Also, with feed prices being at least $100/ton higher, we were unable to feed the amount of grain that we had been feeding last year.

The cows are currently getting hay and baleage with 8 lbs of grain a day.  Please remember that when you look at their milk weights.  We need to move the group fast, because we are running out of milk cow feed.

This year I am going to do things differently.  The following link will show you this year's lactation records that we have on the cows Current Lactation Information.

Their pictures are in numerical order based on their ID.  So, if you see a cow you like, or a cow whose stats you like you can cross reference her between the picture and the list.  This will make it easier for me to keep information updated.  Also, the cows are numbered in three digit numbers by year.  The first digit of the cows' ID is the year they were born (25's first number is 0 so she was born in 2000).

Please e-mail us if you have any questions and we will give you our phone number from there.

Pictures are UP TO DATE:  As in I took them today (January 7, 2012).  Without further ado, here are the cows:

The Great 25
This is a 12 year old cow, on her 10th lactation.  She is a boss cow, queen of the water
trough, and we are sad to see her go.  She is referred to as "Her Greatness," by my
husband.
She is a Dutch Belt/Holstein Cross
this is a three-quartered cow

Ayrshire/Normande Cross
The vet checked her today and said she felt like she was
pregnant, but only possibly 29 days, so he wants to recheck her.

817 Open

1/2 Normande, 1/4 Holstein, 1/4 Jersey
The vet checked her on 1/9/2012 and said she felt like she could be pregnant,
but he was going to call her open for now to be on the safe side.  She will need to be
checked again in a few weeks.

3/4 Ayrshire, 1/4 Normande

937 (Annie) Polled
15/16 Registered Normande
We bought her from a beef herd, and she didn't do to bad considering that.
We actually think she will milk halfway decent as she matures.  Both her mother and
grandmother had good sized udders.

I have no picture of her udder as she secreted past me the I was taking pictures
of the cows in the parlor.
